TBT has cooked up a special event just for members, Breakfast & Civil Discourse, where you’ll find the ingredients to create compassionate conversations. Get some tips on how to engage others with respect and without judgment. Savor how it feels to communicate with an open heart and curious mind. With more self-awareness and some guidelines for good measure, you’ll discuss topics like healthcare, gun control, immigration … and practice how to disagree without being disagreeable.
Our journey begins with Rabbi Hershenson speaking about Jewish values — a fitting framework for the learning to follow. Through practical lessons and dialogue, Bryn Hazell, our guest facilitator, guides us on the path to more productive, compassionate, effective communication. By opening our eyes to our own communication habits, she helps us make positive changes. With greater insight, we’ll enrich our connections with family, friends and colleagues as we chat about politics, work, temple affairs, child rearing, and other subjects we hold dear.
For parents of young children: Our BBYO teens will keep your children engaged in age-appropriate activities that our Rabbi has helped plan. Childcare must be arranged in advance; sorry, no drop-ins. RSVP to Marilyn and you’ll receive more details.
Breakfast, snacks and drinks provided. TBT members only (post b’nai mitzvah and older).
Presented as part of Finding Our Connections, a TBT program initiative.
