Join Rabbi Abrams and Temple Beth Tikvah members in study, discussion and community engagement. 2025 Event: A Discussion on “The Accidental Empire” with Rabbi Sara.

November 6 (zoom), 7 pm, and November 20 (hybrid, both zoom and in-person), 7 pm. Register for this two-part series about The Accidental Empire:Israel and the Birth of the Settlements, 1967-1977, an historical perspective by Gershom Gorenberg.

Israel’s “accidental empire” is, of course, the West Bank, a.k.a. Judea and Samaria, which “accidentally” fell under Israeli administration during and in the aftermath of the Six Day War. In the spirit of our recent study guided by Neil Caplan’s The Israel-Palestine Conflict: Contested Histories, we will endeavor to understand the issues and conflicts from both perspectives – or in the case of the West Bank, from the multiple prevailing perspectives.

If, after Rabbi Sara’s two sessions, there is community interest in continuing our discussions of Israel-Palestine issues, the Middle East and the world more broadly, and how they relate to American Jews and Jewry, we will organize hosting them — details to be determined by the group participants’ preferences.

Register here for this engaging series. Registrants will receive a zoom link before the first session.
