Families with young children are the future lifeblood of TBT, and synagogues everywhere. Parents with their children, from newborns through teenagers, energize our congregation, offer fresh perspectives and broaden our outlook. Not to mention that temple members delight in babies cooing at services, little ones playing at holiday events, and teenagers doing good for themselves and their community.
Family Holiday Celebrations
At TBT, our Jewish holiday gatherings are casual, creative, and family-friendly! Your kids will love taking part in our impromptu Passover play, complete with costumes, scenery and the parting of the Red Sea. Maybe they’ll find the afikomen and win an ice-cream date with Rabbi Hershenson! At our Shevlin Park summer Shabbat picnic, they’ll chase new friends through the woods, and at our Pioneer Park Tashlich on Rosh Hashanah, they might build a boat out of sticks and float it down the river. Our Hanukkah latke-fests are a big draw for all ages and a wonderful opportunity to meet our families. Join us!
Tot Shabbat
Are you a parent of at least one child from infants through grade 4? If so, come join us for our occasional Tot Shabbat programs before our Shabbat Tish potluck dinners. It’s lovely to gather where adults and children mix and mingle, talk and play, creating even stronger friendships. We gather together to celebrate Shabbat, our children, and the amazing community of Jewish families in Central Oregon. We share our personal traditions, learn new traditions, laugh, tell stories, sing and get to know one another. It’s a potluck so we always eat amazing food from home baked challah to lasagna to vegetable stews.
Watch for information in our weekly announcements.
Community Religious Education Program
Temple Beth Tikvah, in cooperation with all of the Jewish communities in Bend, offers a Community Religious Education program for the Jewish children of Central Oregon. We are a coalition of parents and teachers aligned to provide a rich and transformative Jewish and Hebrew education for the children in our congregations.
