Shavuot

Shavuot is a holiday that celebrates the giving of the Torah, or the law.  Because of that, traditional meals tend to be dairy driven both because of the laws of Kashrut introduced in the Torah and to celebrate with sweetness of the divine union that takes place between Israel and God  on this day.
It is a marriage celebration so colorful salads (like a floral decoration at a wedding) and desserts help to elevate the day.  Pareve items are permitted (this includes fish, eggs, and vegetarian dishes), but no meat.  Get creative and bring something wonderfully creamy (dairy or non-dairy) to celebrate and learn with us on this special occasion!
